Widemile Expands Scientific and Analytics Team During Period of Rapid Growth and Expansion
University of Washington Professor Dr. Kailash Kapur Joins Other Subject–Matter Experts in Statistical Optimization on Widemile’s Science Advisory Board
Seattle, WA — June 3, 2008 – Today at the Search Marketing Expo Advanced (SMX) industry conference, Widemile Inc., an emerging leader in multivariate testing and landing page optimization, announced that Dr. Kailash Kapur has joined the company’s Science Advisory Board. The Board includes some of the leading researchers and experts in the field of applied mathematics and engineering, including Dr. Elliott Waldron, Dr. Jack Breese, and Dr. Daniel Rosen. As part of the Board, Dr. Kapur will contribute to building upon Widemile’s leading analytical foundation and statistical methods. These advanced mathematical techniques are built into Widemile’s browser-based optimization platform, used by interactive agencies and their clients to optimize landing pages and other web content linked to online advertising campaigns. Widemile can be found at SMX Advanced at Booth #14.
“I’m excited to join Widemile and apply my expertise to Internet-related challenges and applications,” said Dr. Kapur. “In my many years working in academia and industry, I have continued to look for ways to apply the latest in analytical and statistical methods to solve real-world problems and improve performance.”
Dr. Kapur’s career spans nearly 40 years in both academia and industry. He currently is a professor of Industrial Engineering at the University of Washington. In his present position, Dr. Kapur is responsible for teaching and research in the areas of quality engineering, design reliability, industrial experimental design, system optimization and control, and productivity improvement. Dr. Kapur has also worked with some of the leading industrial and government organizations in the world, including NASA, Siemens, Microsoft, LG Group, the Chinese Manufacturing Association, Northrup Grumman, the U.S. Army, the American Supplier Institute, and several companies in the automotive sector, among others. He is a subject matter expert in quality control, Six Sigma, Design of Experiments, factorial optimization and linear programming.
The Widemile Science Advisory Board works closely with Dr. Vladimir Brayman, Chief Scientist at Widemile. Dr. Brayman has more than 20 years of experience developing data-driven commercial applications, in addition to his work in academia. Prior to joining Widemile, he was a Vice President at Clearsight Systems, an enterprise decision-making systems company, where he oversaw product development. Dr. Brayman is widely published, holds several patents, and also serves as an affiliate faculty member in Industrial Engineering at the University of Washington.
“We are thrilled to be working with Dr. Kapur,” said Dean Kimball, Chief Technology Officer and Widemile co-founder. “His expertise in Design of Experiments and related fields is highly relevant to our analytics systems that ensure our clients get precise, actionable results as quickly as possible. In this business, speed and accuracy translate directly into ROI for the client.”
Additionally, Robert Bergquist, CEO of Widemile, will present a case study on the “Conversion Optimization: Winning After They Arrive” panel at the SMX conference today at 1:30pm in Seattle.
